About Ilija
Ilija Belistojanoski – born in Prilep, Ilija completed his basic education in his hometown. He then enrolled in the State Music School in Bitola, focusing on music theory. During his studies, his exceptional talent was recognized, and he represented the school in a chamber music competition in Skopje, where he won first prize .
Discovering his vocal potential, Ilija decided to continue his training at the Music Academy in Štip under the guidance of renowned opera singer Professor Boris Trajanov. At the academy, he studied proper singing technique along with stage presence (acting, movement, and posture). He regularly performed in concerts honoring Prof. Kosta Trpkov, collaborating with the orchestra of the Macedonian National Opera and Ballet.
He debuted on the National Opera and Ballet stage in Verdi’s Macbeth, performing the role of Malcolm alongside an Italian ensemble. He regularly gives concerts across North Macedonia. Shortly after graduation, he won first prize from the jury at the “Lazar Jovanović” competition in Belgrade, Serbia. He then won the Grand Prix at the “Russian Romanciada” competition in Sofia, Bulgaria, becoming one of the twelve finalists in Moscow, where he earned second prize from the international jury. Following this, he was invited to perform in one of the world’s grand concert halls—the Kremlin Palace in Moscow .
He participated in the “Russian Vocal Music” competition in Skopje, winning second place; the jury included one of Russia’s most esteemed basses and People’s Artist of the USSR, Prof. Leonid Smetanikov .
Participation in the international singing competition “Byulbyul” in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Ilija advanced to the final rounds of the prestigious international “Belvedere” competition in Riga, Latvia. He has worked with distinguished educators such as Michael Pabst and Linda Plech in Vienna, Danusa Luknisova and Miguel Gomez Paez in Pesaro, Italy, conductor Elda Laro in Germany, Paola Mariotti (Luciano Pavarotti’s final personal pianist), Nicholas Clapton in England, and others.
He also regularly attends masterclasses with one of Italy’s foremost prima donnas, Prof. Capucine Chiaudani.
